Dr. Yvette A. Ortiz graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1990 and completed her Internal Medicine residency at NYU. She is passionate about Medicine and takes immense pride in motivating her patients and measurably improving their health. Over the past nine years, she has worked in an academic setting at Columbia University, where she provided care for adult patients, taught medical trainees, and developed a Telemedicine program that now serves a large population in Northern Manhattan. This program became a key resource during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Ortiz has a professional interest in Obesity and Diabetes. Prior to joining Columbia University, she managed a medical practice where she implemented population health initiatives in diabetes management. The New York City Department of Health recognized her clinic’s Diabetes Prevention Program as a Best Practice Model and promoted it to other physicians in New York City.
Her husband, Emilio, is also an internist. They have two college-aged daughters, Clarisa and Elisa, and a son, Alex, who works as an aerospace engineer. Dr. Ortiz engages in walking, gym training, and promotes nutrition and exercise among her patients as important factors for health and disease prevention.
