Dr. Alan Bakst

Dr. Bakst is an established and highly skilled physician with over 20 years of experience in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. He is well regarded in the central Pam Beach County community, earning numerous accolades for his compassion, quality and patient centered care.
He was raised and educated in Johannesburg South Africa, where he received his M.B., B.Ch. from the University of Witwatersrand and graduated with honors in hematology and genetics. Prior to his residency training, he worked in cardiothoracic surgery, gaining experience and insight in the surgical arena of the chest.

He relocated to the United States, where he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and went on to the University of Maryland, completing fellowships in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and maintains his American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in all 3 specialties.
He has a special interest in sleep medicine, including obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy and general sleep medicine. His pulmonary interests include; COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension and general pulmonary medicine. In addition, he works as an intensivist/ critical care specialist at several hospitals in the area and has experience in tele-ICU medicine.
